Vestibular Rehab Therapy
Vestibular Rehab Therapy (VRT) is a specialized form of exercise-based therapy used to treat vertigo and/or dizziness. The goal of VRT is to reduce symptoms, improve balance and gaze stability, and decrease the risk of falls. This is done by restoring normal function of the vestibular system or by teaching the brain and body how to compensate for whatever is causing the vertigo.
Our therapists will perform a comprehensive clinical examination in order to create a patient-specific exercise program to address the vestibular-related problems. These principle methods of exercise are 1) Habituation 2) Gaze Stabilization, and/or 3) Balance Training. In most cases, patients attend only a few sessions then perform their exercises several times per day at home
