Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed: September 10, 2026
Specht Physical Therapy is committed to making spechtphysicaltherapy.com usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard alone, zoom the page, or rely on other assistive technology. This statement describes our conformance target, what we've done, what we know still needs work, and how to reach us if something on this site gets in your way.
Conformance Target
We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the benchmark most commonly cited in ADA Title III web accessibility matters. This site has not been certified by an outside auditor; the measures below describe a good-faith effort, not a guarantee that every page meets every success criterion at every moment.
Measures We've Taken
Site-wide: a skip-to-content link on every page, a single <main> landmark plus <header>, <nav>, and <footer> landmarks, one <h1> per page with no skipped heading levels, and strengthened keyboard focus indicators that hold at least 3:1 contrast against every section background. The mobile navigation menu opens and closes as a proper dialog: focus moves into it, Tab is trapped inside it while it's open, Escape closes it, and it is hidden from keyboard and assistive technology entirely while closed. Every content photo carries descriptive alt text; purely decorative images and dividers are hidden from assistive technology so they don't add noise. All interactive components (the FAQ and condition-page accordions, the multi-step booking form, the mobile menu, the horizontally-scrolling card rows) are fully operable by keyboard, and none of them trap focus. The site respects your operating system's "reduce motion" setting: with it on, every entrance animation renders instantly in its final position instead of animating. The whole site remains readable and fully functional with JavaScript turned off, including the booking form.
The booking form specifically: every field has a real, programmatically associated label, required fields are marked as required, validation errors are announced to screen readers as they appear, and the required text-message consent checkbox cannot be skipped, with or without JavaScript. We measured every muted or secondary text color on the site against its actual rendered background using the WCAG contrast formula (not by eye) and corrected every pairing that fell short of 4.5:1 for body text or 3:1 for large text and interface components.
We review accessibility as part of every future update to this site, not as a one-time pass. If you notice a regression, please tell us using the contact information below.
Known Limitations
We would rather tell you what still falls short than let you find it yourself:
- Google reviews wall (homepage). The scrolling column of Google reviews on the homepage pauses automatically when you hover it or move keyboard focus into it, and it freezes in place if your system's reduced-motion setting is on. The review text itself is now present directly in the page for everyone, including with JavaScript turned off; JavaScript only adds the auto-scrolling motion on top of it.
- Elfsight Google Reviews widget (homepage). This is a third-party embed we don't control the internals of. We've verified it doesn't trap keyboard focus, but we can't make the same line-by-line guarantees about it that we can about the rest of the site.
- A small number of blog post photos. Nearly every photo in every blog article carries descriptive alt text. A handful of older posts, ported from our previous website, include supporting photos with no reliable caption or heading nearby to draw accurate alt text from; rather than guess, we left those undescribed. We're working through these as we revise older posts.
- Embedded videos (two blog posts). A couple of older posts embed YouTube or Vimeo videos with a generic "Embedded video" title rather than a specific one. The player's own controls (play, pause, captions where the source provides them) are unaffected.
- Patient Registration Packet (PDF). The downloadable registration packet is a print-and-fill form: it has selectable text, but it isn't tagged for screen readers and has no fillable form fields. If you can't complete it visually, call either office and we'll take your information over the phone or complete it with you at your first visit.
Feedback
If you run into an accessibility barrier anywhere on this site, please tell us. Email office@spechtpt.com or call (508) 675-3200 for either office, and describe the page and what happened. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
