Functional Movement Screening Day - February 18th

Functional Movement Screening Day - February 18th

Along with our ability to rehabilitate injuries, we also have methods to analyze movement patterns in athletes so exercises can be prescribed that enhance performance and reduce the likelihood of injury. For instance, a simple problem like a stiff upper back will wreak havoc on basic movements like snatch and push press but can also create shoulder and lower back injuries. In short, moving well means better performance and makes injury less likely.

Since the first step in correcting movement dysfunction is movement analysis we utilize Functional Movement Systems (FMS) to test athletes while they perform fundamental patterns of movement (i.e. squatting, lunging, bending and balancing along with core stability, leg movements and arm movements). Here’s a video that gives a good example of how FMS is used in athletics.

We are doing a Movement Screening day at CrossFit Prowess on February 18th. Participants will each be screened (opens in a new tab), test information will be entered into a computer program and a report including exercises based on findings will be given to each participant.

CrossFit Prowess is located at 40 Mead St C, Seekonk, MA 02771. The event will be held from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Screenings will be done in groups of 15, and you must sign up beforehand. For more information please visit CrossFit Prowess’ website.
We will be asking for a $20 charitable donation to www.beatthestreetsprovidence.org in lieu of any registration fees for the event.
